Stop Your Cat From Waking You Up Early In 4 Steps

By May 30, 2018 August 22nd, 2018 Uncategorized

It’s the one day you get to sleep in and the next thing you know you get that wonderful paw in the face or you’re being serenaded at 7 am for food and attention.. It might sound taboo to say this, but you can control this behavior and take back your mornings! But persistence is key.

Following these 4 steps below can help take back those well deserved Zzzzzz’s.

1. Don’t give into your cat’s morning demands (feed me/ lets play)…

If these early morning demands get you up and out of bed, this will enforces their behavior and they will continue those wonderful wake ups.

2. Feed your feline friend later to avoid morning hunger.

A great way to avoid that early morning wake up call is to feed their dinner later in the evening (right before bed), or splitting up meals during the day to decrease that chance of hunger in those early mornings.

3. Tire your cat out at night so they sleep in.

Get them to play and get them to wear themselves out in the evening. As this will decrease those chances of them waking you up and, who knows, you might be able to wake them up!

4. Be consistent and do not break up your routine.

If you don’t give in, they will give up. If it happens every now and then, you’re encouraging them to try harder.
